Connecting with Confidence – Self Led Groups for Healing

The word confidence stems from Latin and means ‘With trust’. To have confidence is to trust ourselves. In IFS, confidence is one of the eight C qualities of Self-energy: an inherent, natural quality which is at our core.

The confidence that is our birthright has often been covered over or blocked as a result of devaluing experiences or messages that we are not worthy. Cultural and family beliefs embed further messages that tell us we are not good enough, or that it’s not ok to shine.

These negative messages and wounds often happen within relationships and groups - family, schools and other organisations. Wounds that happened in relationship require healing in

relationship. Sometimes healing within a supportive and compassionate group is the nurturing missing experience that we need in order to heal and to feel more confidence, as well as more connection to others.

This programme of therapeutic group work offers 5 full day sessions spread over several weeks. The sessions will be experiential and offer each participant the chance to have an IFS session with Sue Smith, utilising therapeutic sculpting work and the support of the group. Connecting with your intentions, inspiration, and resources, and an aim to heal what blocks you will guide your journey over the course of these sessions.  You will be invited into meditations, journalling and mapping, and somatic experiential enquiry, all with an awareness of IFS. A welcoming space for compassionate and curious enquiry will be co-created with a shared intention to support one another towards healing, connection and confidence.

This programme of Connecting with Confidence - Self Led Groups for Healing will take place at Brinscall Hall, Brinscall, Chorley, Lancashire. Brinscall Hall is a lovely, peaceful venue set in beautiful gardens and just 10 mins drive from the M61 motorway. There is simple and reasonably priced accommodation available at the venue or other accommodation is available nearby if this is required.

You are asked to make commitment to the group for the course of the sessions. An informal chat with Sue is required on application to chat about if these group sessions will be a good fit for you before you book your place.

Cost of the course of programme of 5 full day sessions is £450. Closing date for payments is August 10th.

These small groups of up to 10 participants are facilitated by Sue Smith who is a trainer with the IFS Institute (Internal Family Systems).

About the Trainer

Sue is an IFS Institute Certified Therapist and Approved Clinical Consultant. She is a qualified and experienced psychotherapist/counsellor, registered with the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). Sue has an MA in Dance and Somatic Wellbeing and has studied Hakomi – mindfulness based somatic psychotherapy and shamanic and spiritual practices. Sue has taken specialist ‘Healing Circles’ training, IFS in groups, with Chris Burris.

Who is the programme suitable for?

The programme is suitable for those who have done and IFS Introduction or Level 1 or above or have been having IFS sessions and have some awareness of working with parts and a capacity to unblend and access enough Self-energy to show up for others with openness and warm curiosity.

Heart Lessons of the Journey Retreat with Cece Sykes

This is a wonderful opportunity to work with IFS Institute Senior Lead Trainer, Cece Sykes, in a beautiful residential setting in the UK. Cece developed her Heart Lessons of the Journey retreat over numerous years, emerging from her own experiences, and from her work with therapists.

In this retreat, we will explore...

  • What led you to become a therapist?

  • How can new awareness of your story enrich your work?

  • How can a deeper understanding of your story nurture and resource your spirit?

  • Life as a therapist is interesting, challenging and deeply rewarding. Yet the life of a therapist is also continually evolving. What happens when we face personal struggles, andhow does it impact our professional journey?

  • We are so accustomed to sharing our patience and compassion with others ...Do we take enough time to open our hearts and listen to ourselves?

Number of participants: around 24-26 participants.

Pre-requisites of participants: Participants to have completed an IFS Level 1 training (Internal Family systems) and to be a therapist.

Join other therapists in a peaceful residential setting near Bristol to explore these central questions. Enjoy this opportunity for sharing, writing & reflection, laughter, walks, napping, poetry, music, good food and rest.

We’ve found that rediscovering the meaning of our stories often reveals hidden strengths; our family legacies can become a roadmap to unexpected healing. You will leave this residential retreat restored, with an appreciation of the importance of your journey and a closer connection to the real sources of your unique attunement and wisdom.

About Cece Sykes

Cece has over 40 years of experience of clinical work with individuals, couples and families, specialising in recovery from trauma and addictive processes. She is a Senior Trainer of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and travels internationally teaching, lecturing and consulting. She developed this retreat as part of an ongoing worldwide project to explore the personal narratives of therapists and the impact on their work. Cece lives and works in Chicago and this is a rare opportunity to work with her in the UK. For more information about Cece, see her website.

Self Led Magic #2 What if we could listen to ancestor wisdom and receive their support and guidance?

Self Led Magic #2 What if we could listen to ancestor wisdom and receive their support and guidance?

Did you find magic in the world as a child?

What if this magic, wonder, and aliveness is waiting for you?

Self Led Magic invites a space for sensitive exploration of these questions.

The term ‘Self Led’, coined by Richard Schwartz who developed IFS, describes what happens when we access our innate wisdom and curiosity. In these short workshops we hope to awaken a sense of this curiosity towards the mystery and magic that is everywhere. We will be offering practices based on the IFS model, somatic awareness and movement, animistic traditions, creativity, and attuned relationship. We wonder…

What if your inner world is threaded with real stories of heroic adventures, yearning to come to light?

What if intuition and heartful wisdom is available within to resource you?

What if nature and the other-than-human world is wishing to guide and support you?

What if body and being knows what it needs and has wonders to reveal?

What if each can help each other to draw in the magic which is our birth-right?

At this time in history, in a world in need of wisdom, imagination and compassion, we would love for you to join us if this is something that speaks to you.

You are welcome to come to one, or all of these as each will have a different focus based on the questions posed above.

Invitations for creative journaling during the workshop will support the process, so please bring a notebook or paper, pens, pencils and colours you would want to use. This journal may become a companion, going forward, for continued reflections on your own personal magical journey.

There are a limited number of concessionary rate tickets of £45 for those on lower incomes.

Tickets are non-refundable.

Please make sure you can access to the zoom platform and have adequate internet connection. We recommend using a laptop or iPad rather than a phone.

Please ensure you are in a private space where you can feel comfortable, and respect confidentiality of all.

No audio or visual recording of the workshops permitted.
